Faerieworlds

For months my Aunt Abra and I had planned to have a little Fairy School at Abra's house. Basically, the girls come dressed up and Abra puts on a fairy tea party with everything very fancy and tiny.But when I called her up the day before, she told me about this event that she read about in the newspaper. It's called Faerieworlds and a ton of fanatical people get together and dress as faeries. We decided that we should go there instead, if just to get the experience and see what it was like. Of course we had to be decked out.

So, the next day, I drove and Abra sat beside me and whipped up these ADORABLE fairy skirts and head dresses on the way down. Unfortunately she had way more time than she needed, thanks to traffic. What should have been a 2 hour drive became a 3 1/2 hour drive! But, the costumes were amazing there. There were wizards, fairies, elves, tree people, fawns, and all sorts of crazy outfits. We had people stop us and ask to take pictures of the girls and plenty of people told them how beautiful they were. (As we were going to pay to get in, someone randomly handed me a paper that gave me free admission!!!! I just felt bad that they didn't give one to Abra as well. The kids were free)

Ballerina started out being pretty sulky. I had a hard time dealing with that. Abra said she was probably just overwhelmed. She perked up after a while. Sweetie LOVED the entire event. We didn't have time to come up with an outfit for Captain Adorable. But he's still cute.Abra bought the girls some fairy wands and they had a great time playing with them.
And dancing with them.There were random people dancing, juggling, and walking on stilts. It made me think of what it might have been like in old marketplaces. There were tons of vendors selling fairy related things. We could have bought our entire outfits there. There were bands playing Celtic music and other kinds. We heard bagpipes and a didgeridoo. The girls liked dancing.
There was a children's area with tables set up so you could make corn husk dolls, wands and teepees. They had a little bean bag toss and a puppet theater for the kids to pretend with.

There was one guy with a dragon sitting on his shoulder, with a wire he was able to make the head move and the girls thought the dragon was real. He was so nice, he put the dragon on their shoulders and let them make its head move. Ballerina wanted to put a dragon on her "list."

They had a big shade tent with pads to rest on. Sweetie jumped on them with the other kids.

Ballerina loved her wand, she would walk and point it to people and say, "Wish, Wish, Wish." She was granting them wishes. And she said her wand led them through a little maze that we went through. Then she decided to pretend that it was a flute.

Just as we were leaving we saw a lady dressed as a fairy queen. Her costume was incredible. The girls LOVED her. Ballerina still talks about her. The fairy queen is actually a kindergarten teacher who dresses up for her kids. There were many interesting people there. The girls wanted to go back the next day!
