The 4th: The Trampoline

Every year for the past four years we have gone to a big family get-together to celebrate Independence Day. It involves a big potluck, family, sun, play, scones and fireworks. But this year, Sweetie's favorite part of the day was the trampoline. She jumped on it for HOURS and HOURS, only pausing for a little water and a few nibbles of food.
Check out the air The Youngest got here:
Ballerina liked the trampoline as well, but she moved on to other fun things, like this merry-go-round:
We should really get a trampoline for Sweetie, but our backyard is just too small.Sometimes Sweetie would end up bouncing all alone (no one could outlast her) and she would call to passing kids saying, "You want to play with me?" Or she'd say, "Friends! I need my friends!"
Here is Sweetie playing with her cousin S. He is 6 months older than she is and she just loves to play with him.
"[SH]e runs out in [her] socks, my turn, my turn!
They haul [her] up so [s]he
might bounce and stamp and lift [her] legs to learn
how little one can weigh
up there, the moment when the body peaks
and hangs, becoming what the body seeks:
"weightlessness and weight; self launching beyond self;
before the theory, fact.
Yet as [s]he flies, [s]he drops down like a leaf
the earth tries to give back.
[Sh]e tumbles, caught at last in the canvas sheet,
then feels again through socks the warm concrete." (Trampoline by Joshua Weiner)
Sweetie wore herself out and had a blast doing it!

The earlier posts are so long that I had to go to the "older post" section to even see this.

I was amazed at how much Sweetie wanted to be on the trampoline. Hopefully with a larger yard in our next house, we can get one. It was easy to find her at the reunion, because she was always at the same spot!
