Sister Love

Baby Dragon has been completely IN LOVE with her baby brother. One morning she prayed that I would push out another baby. Ha! Another morning she came and layed on the bed with Cpt. Adorable while I got dressed and ready for the day. She sang him songs and entertained him. She loves to sit and sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to him while he's nursing. Her new goal is to grow up and be a mommy and have a baby. Well, her life goals change often-- in the car she told Handsome Husband that she wanted to grow up to be a doctor and help get the babies out of mommies' tummies. I saw her pretending to nurse her baby doll. Handsome Husband found Baby Dragon "helping" Sweetie have a baby in the bathtub. Basically, Sweetie was lying on her back with a turtle on her tummy and Baby Dragon was "catching" the baby. Ahem. That's what I get for letting her watch the video of Sweetie's birth.
Baby Dragon loves to sing songs to Cpt. Adorable. She also likes to tell him stories. While he was in the swing today she kept him happy by chattering to him. Sweetie also wanted to tell him a story, so it was fun watching them compete for a chance at entertaining the baby. Sweetie kept saying "the end" after a couple of sentences. Any time I ask Baby Dragon to get something for me for the baby she is more than happy to. She knows the nursing routine and will get a new nursing pad out for me and hand me my lanolin when Cpt. A finishes a side.
Sweetie seems to think of him more as a baby doll and she adores him. She will randomly say, "I want to hold it." And she always insists on holding the pacifier in his mouth. She doesn't want help. She will hold him for quite a while and gets really excited if he makes any noise. If she hears him crying she'll say, "Baby Cpt A!" and she'll run off to find him. She likes to watch while I change his diaper and she talks about his stinky poo.
Sweetie does request to be held more than she used to. Although she loves the baby, she doesn't like not being the baby anymore. But she does seem to be talking more and she's starting to play REALLY well with Baby Dragon. They really like to dress up together and sing songs at the piano together. Handsome Husband can't get over how big Sweetie suddenly seems.
Every day Baby Dragon asks if Cpt. A is still zero. She was very excited when I told her that he is one week old today. She said, "He's not zero anymore?!" Handsome Husband suggested that we make a cake to celebrate his one month old birthday...
Today while at the table, Cpt. A was fussing in the swing and Baby Dragon was calling out reassuringly that she would be there in a minute. She'd run over and stick a pacifier in his mouth and then tell him that she was eating dinner and would be back soon. Sometimes she just sits and watches him swing and tells him that she loves him over and over. She also made him a card today. She LOVES making cards. The card "said" Baby Dragon loves Baby Cpt. A, although the only letters that appeared on the card were "o i f." She loves to snuggle with him and is more than happy to pose for pictures.
Baby Dragon loves that we have 5 people in our family now. When we got in the car she said, "Mom, there are 3 girls and 2 boys in the car!"
If Cpt. A cries or has any issues Baby Dragon believes that she can make it all better with a kiss. She often says, "It's ok, Baby Cpt. A," followed by a kiss.I LOVE this picture.

So has the newness worn off with the girls yet? I know BD still loves him, but has Sweetie started to realize she doesn't get quite the attention?

I think they will get more excited when he can roll over, play wtih toys and reacts to them more.
