Ballerina Storyteller and Update

Ballerina LOVES to tell stories. When she's at preschool or with friends she will always ask, "Does anyone want to hear a story about a unicorn??" And then she goes off into this long winded, rambling account that usually involves a monster, scary woods, and the unicorn getting captured and rescued. It's gotten to the point that everyone groans at preschool when she asks if they want to hear a story! But we went to a friend's house last night and the friend enjoyed it and even helped and gave Ballerina some new ideas.

Here are the girls in Handsome Husband's new recliner:
Ballerina relaxes after dance class:
  • Ballerina's favorite song is "Samuel Tells of Baby Jesus" and she sings it often.
  • Ballerina has a hard time pronouncing the "th" and "ch" sounds. They come out sounding like "s"s or "t"s. Other than that she is pretty articulate.
  • She loves escaping to her room and pretending the afternoon away. She really enjoys when Sweetie joins her but only if she does everything Ballerina says.
  • Ballerina actually has some favorite foods! She loves Chicken Puffs, pizza, hamburgers, potato soup, Hawaiian Haystacks, and spaghetti, to name a few.
  • Ballerina and her friend organized a game of Duck, Duck, Goose with Sweetie and her friend. They played it happily for 1/2 an hour with no parental direction!
  • Ballerina likes to make her room fancy like Fancy Nancy. This includes hanging a feather boa on her bed and hanging random things in random places.
  • If Sweetie gets in trouble, Ballerina is quick to point out that SHE didn't do that.
  • Ballerina's imaginary friend Mercy is still around. Ballerina made a Mii for her on the Wii so now we know what she looks like. Mercy's birthday is November 27th. Ballerina always points out that Mercy was in my tummy and that Mercy is part of our family. Ballerina has another imaginary friend named Lotta.
  • I played hide and seek with her the other day (in between folding laundry) and totally scared her when I jumped out from behind the shower curtain.
  • Ballerina likes to interpret what Captain Adorable is saying or thinking. Sometimes she is pretty accurate.
  • Ballerina likes to pretend she is swimming in the bathtub and prefers to bathe without Sweetie so she can have more room.
  • When Ballerina is feeling particularly compliant she will respond "Yes, Mom" to my requests. It is SO nice to hear that!
  • Ballerina is a natural leader and tells her friends to "listen to me!"
  • She starts most of her sentences by saying "Do you know?"
  • She likes to pretend that she's the mother and I'm the daughter.
  • She often talks in third person and likes to call me be my first name when she is pretending.
  • Ballerina said that I make her favorite foods! That means that the phrase, "Just like Mom used to make" applies to me now!
  • She is fascinated with Spanish and I'm considering putting her into a Spanish immersion Kindergarten (since we feel home school is not the right option for her at this point).
  • Ballerina likes to tie things up, especially her stuffed animals.
  • We recently gave her a toy shelf above her bed and she loves having her special things where Sweetie can't reach.
  • I have a wish list just for Ballerina so if she wants something she can tell me to put it on her list. So far there is a mermaid Barbie and the Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure movie.
  • Ballerina is convinced that we will have another boy baby. And of course it will be named Morris.
  • She LOVES when we play the Wii with her. The other day Handsome Husband was looking at buying some old school Nintendo games for it and Ballerina was so excited. When he said he didn't have the money she said, "You can use MY allowance!" Hahahaha! She gets $1 a week.
  • Ballerina wants us to explain the Sunday funnies to her, even though she doesn't understand them even after we explain them.
  • Top things Ballerina pretends to be: Mom, a baby, a princess, a bad guy.
  • Handsome Husband took her ice skating once and to hear her talk, you'd think she was the next Olympic champion.
