Celebrating a First

Today was Gabby's first birthday, so we spent the day with Jeana and the kids to help celebrate.

Jeana makes smoothies almost every morning for breakfast and we LOVE it.

I don't think any childhood is complete without some embarrassing tub pictures with a baby friend.

Below, Captain Adorable is signing water.  He uses his sign language constantly, sharing his observations of the world with me through his signs.

Captain Adorable is SO much bigger than the petite Gabby, even though there is only a 7 month a difference.

Oh, Captain Adorable and his scowling faces.  He has definitely been using them more.  If he gets hurt, it is hard to comfort him.  He doesn't like to be held, he prefers to wander and cry, so I just wait with his blanket for him to come to me.  If he really needs comfort he will, but he's not super snuggly about it.  He likes to deal with his pain on his own if he can.

Landon and Sweetie were having fun with these light up necklaces.

Later, I came upstairs to find them quietly sitting next to each other, reading books.  So sweet.

Gabby took ten steps on her birthday, even though she wasn't feeling very good.  She definitely enjoyed her birthday cake, though.
Photobucket
The older kids got cupcakes to eat while Gabby demolished the cake.

Apparently, the kids didn't think that Gabby was ruining her cake fast enough, so they all decided to help.
Photobucket
So gracious of her to share.

Happy 1st Birthday, little Gabsters!

Cute tub pics. Yes Cpt A does prefer to deal with pain by himself. Very big difference from the girls.

nice pic of Gabby eating cake! She hasn't grown much vertically, but she is walking all over now!
